Rolex Cosmograph Daytona 116500LN

The first steel Daytona with a ceramic Cerachrom bezel, made from 2016 to 2023 with calibre 4130.

The 116500LN, introduced in 2016, was the first steel Cosmograph Daytona with a black Cerachrom bezel. With it Rolex looked back to the black bezels of the Daytonas of the 1960s and gave the steel Daytona a markedly different face from its predecessor, the 116520 with a steel bezel.

Calibre 4130, which Rolex introduced in 2000 as its own chronograph movement, has a column wheel, a vertical clutch and a power reserve of about 72 hours. The case measures 40 mm, the pushers screw down and the watch is water-resistant to 100 metres. The 116500LN existed with a white and with a black dial and was succeeded in 2023 by the 126500LN with calibre 4131.

On a pre-owned example we test the chronograph completely, with start, stop, reset and the running of the sub-dials, and look at the condition of the bezel, the pushers and crown, the bracelet and the set. The guarantee card states the purchase date; examples from the last production years may still carry manufacturer's warranty. A recent service is a plus on a chronograph more than a few years old, and we state it.

Questions about the 116500LN

What is the difference between the 116500LN and the 116520?

The 116520 (2000–2016) had a steel bezel with an engraved tachymeter scale; the 116500LN received a black Cerachrom bezel. Calibre 4130 is the same in both.

What is the difference between the 116500LN and the 126500LN?

The 126500LN has calibre 4131 instead of 4130 and a slightly reworked case and dial. Size, bezel and bracelet are comparable.

Can I sell or trade in my 116500LN with you?

Yes. You can offer a 116500LN as an outright sale, on consignment or as a trade-in against another watch. Every request is assessed by hand; a proposal only follows afterwards and is never guaranteed in advance. Read more in our guide to selling.
