The 79950 is the Ranger, introduced in 2022. It refers to the Tudor watches worn by the British North Greenland Expedition from 1952, and to the first Ranger of the 1960s. It is a simple, robust watch: a 39 mm steel case with a smooth fixed bezel and a black dial with the numerals 3, 6 and 9.
The in-house calibre MT5402 has no date, about 70 hours of power reserve and a COSC certificate; it is the same movement as in the Black Bay Fifty-Eight. The case is satin-brushed, which makes it less prone to visible wear than a polished case, and the watch is water-resistant to 100 metres. The Ranger was supplied on a steel bracelet or on a strap.
The Ranger is not a dive watch but a versatile everyday watch, similar in concept to the Rolex Explorer. On a pre-owned example we look at the case and bezel, the luminous material, the bracelet or strap and buckle, and the set. Because the reference is recent, an example may still carry manufacturer's warranty.
