The 79230N is the 41 mm Black Bay with a black bezel and the in-house calibre MT5602, made from 2016 to 2023. It succeeded the first generation of the Black Bay, built from 2012 with a bought-in base movement, and with the MT5602 received a movement of its own with about 70 hours of power reserve and a COSC certificate.
The case is inspired by Tudor's divers of the 1950s, with a large crown without crown guards, snowflake hands and a domed dial without a date. The watch is water-resistant to 200 metres and was supplied on a steel bracelet or on a strap. In 2023 Tudor renewed the 41 mm Black Bay with a thinner case and a movement with Master Chronometer certification by METAS; the 79230N is the version before that.
On a pre-owned 79230N we look at the aluminium bezel insert, the luminous material, the bracelet or strap and the set. As with every Black Bay, we check that reference and calibre belong together, because the versions with a bought-in movement and those with the MT5602 look very much alike.
