Tudor Black Bay Chrono 79360N

The Black Bay Chrono: a 41 mm steel chronograph with a tachymeter bezel and calibre MT5813.

The 79360N is the Black Bay Chrono, introduced in 2017. Its movement, calibre MT5813, is based on Breitling's chronograph calibre B01 and adapted by Tudor; in return Tudor supplied Breitling with a base movement for models of its own. The result is a chronograph with a column wheel, a vertical clutch, about 70 hours of power reserve and a COSC certificate.

The case measures 41 mm, the steel bezel carries a tachymeter scale, and the pushers screw down, making the watch water-resistant to 200 metres, which is exceptional for a chronograph. The dial has two sub-dials and a date; since 2021 the watch has existed with a light dial and black sub-dials and with a black dial and light sub-dials, better known as panda and reverse panda.

On a pre-owned example we test the chronograph completely: start, stop, reset and the running of the sub-dials. We also look at the screw-down pushers and crown, the steel bezel, the bracelet or strap and the set. Because a chronograph has more parts than a simple movement, we state a recent service when there is one.

Questions about the 79360N

Is calibre MT5813 a Breitling movement?

It is based on Breitling's calibre B01 and adapted and finished by Tudor. It features a column wheel, a vertical clutch and a COSC certificate, among other things.

Why do the pushers screw down?

To ensure water resistance to 200 metres. Unscrew them before operating the chronograph and screw them back afterwards; do not operate the chronograph under water.

Yes. You can offer a 79360N as an outright sale, on consignment or as a trade-in against another watch. Every request is assessed by hand; a proposal only follows afterwards and is never guaranteed in advance. Read more in our guide to selling.
