Tudor Black Bay GMT 79830RB

The Black Bay GMT with a blue and burgundy bezel: 41 mm steel and the in-house calibre MT5652 with a jumping hour hand.

The 79830RB is the Black Bay GMT, introduced in 2018. The rotating bezel with a 24-hour scale in blue and burgundy gives it the colours of the classic GMT watches, but the execution is typically Tudor: a 41 mm case, snowflake hands and a black dial with a date window at three o'clock.

The in-house calibre MT5652, COSC-certified and with about 70 hours of power reserve, has an independently adjustable hour hand. On arrival in another time zone you move the local time forward hour by hour without disturbing the GMT hand or the minutes, and the date follows. With the rotating bezel you can read a third time zone if you wish. The watch is water-resistant to 200 metres and was supplied on a steel bracelet or on a strap.

On a pre-owned example we test the GMT function and the date, and check the condition of the aluminium bezel insert and its click when turned, the luminous material, the bracelet and clasp, and the set. Anyone looking for a more compact watch with two time zones will find it in the 39 mm Black Bay Pro.

Questions about the 79830RB

What is the difference between the Black Bay GMT and the Black Bay Pro?

The GMT measures 41 mm and has a rotating bezel in blue and burgundy; the Pro measures 39 mm and has a fixed steel 24-hour bezel. Both use calibre MT5652 with an independently adjustable hour hand.

How many time zones can I read on the Black Bay GMT?

Two with the hands: local time with the hour hand and home time with the GMT hand on the 24-hour bezel. By turning the bezel you can read a third time zone with the same GMT hand.

Can I sell or trade in my 79830RB with you?

Yes. You can offer a 79830RB as an outright sale, on consignment or as a trade-in against another watch. Every request is assessed by hand; a proposal only follows afterwards and is never guaranteed in advance. Read more in our guide to selling.

What if no 79830RB is available?

Then we search for one. Use watch sourcing to tell us which version, condition and set you are looking for. We will contact you as soon as we find a suitable example; whether and when that happens cannot be guaranteed in advance.
