The 47040/B01A is the second-generation steel Overseas, which Vacheron Constantin introduced in 2004 and made until 2016. The case measures 42 mm and has the bezel with notches referring to the Maltese cross, an integrated bracelet and a date.
In 2016 the 4500V/110A followed as part of the third generation.
Inside is the self-winding calibre 1226. Unlike the third generation, the bracelet does not have the system for changing straps without tools; anyone who wants a different strap needs suitable tools and the right parts.
Because even the last examples are several years old, the service history carries a lot of weight with a 47040/B01A. We ask about recent overhauls, check timekeeping, winding, setting and the date, and verify that dial and hands belong to the reference.
On case, bezel and bracelet we look for polishing marks and stretch in the links. The set counts too: we list the certificate, box and any service records with the watch. More about what a complete set includes can be found in our guide to box and papers.
