The 542.NX.1171.RX is the 42 mm titanium Classic Fusion. The Classic Fusion appeared in 2008 as the restrained counterpart to the Big Bang: a thinner, simpler case without a chronograph, but with the same recognisable bezel bearing six H-shaped screws. This version shows hours, minutes, seconds and the date, and is worn on a rubber strap.
The movement is the HUB1112, a self-winding calibre that Hublot builds on the basis of a bought-in movement. The watch is water-resistant to 50 metres. Anyone looking for more presence on the wrist will find the same design in 45 mm as the 511.NX.1171.RX.
A Classic Fusion is often worn every day, and the titanium shows it. On a pre-owned example we look for scratches and polishing marks on the bezel and the brushed case flanks, at the condition of the H-screws and at the crown.
We check the movement, the date change and the timekeeping, and assess the strap separately. We compare reference and serial number with the guarantee card; more about what a complete set includes can be found in our guide to box and papers.
