The 411.CI.1170.RX is the Big Bang Unico Black Magic: the same 45 mm case as the titanium 411.NX.1170.RX, but in black ceramic. Case and bezel are entirely black, with alternating matt and polished surfaces, and the openworked dial reveals the movement. Hublot calls its black ceramic versions Black Magic.
The movement is the HUB1242, the in-house self-winding Unico chronograph calibre with flyback function, date and a column wheel visible on the dial side. The power reserve is about 72 hours, and the watch is water-resistant to 100 metres.
Ceramic scratches little and keeps its appearance for a long time, but it is hard and therefore brittle. On a pre-owned example we look closely at the edges, the corners and the bezel around the H-screws, because that is where a knock leaves chips or hairline cracks.
These cannot be polished away; whatever we find is stated. We also test the chronograph and the flyback, assess the rubber strap and compare the serial number with the papers. How we assess a watch in general is explained in our guide to having a watch valued.
