About Hublot
How did Hublot begin?
Hublot was founded in 1980 by the Italian Carlo Crocco. The name is French for porthole, a reference to the round case with its visible screws. The first watch paired a gold case with a natural rubber strap, a combination that was unusual in fine watchmaking at the time.
In 2005 the house launched the Big Bang, a chronograph with a layered case, and with it the principle Hublot has since called the 'Art of Fusion': bringing together materials no one expects to see side by side. The Classic Fusion followed in 2008, the same year Hublot became part of the LVMH group.
Since 2010 the house has built its own chronograph calibre, the Unico, and it has developed its own materials such as the gold alloys King Gold and Magic Gold.
What do we check on a Hublot?
A Hublot is built in layers, and every layer deserves attention. We check that the H-shaped screws in the bezel are undamaged and correctly seated, and that the intermediate layers between bezel and case are intact and original.
The rubber strap is a wearing part: we assess it separately, and on models with the One Click system we check that the strap clicks in smoothly and stays firmly in place.
The material determines what we look for. Ceramic scratches little but can chip or crack from a knock, especially at edges and corners, and cannot be refinished the way steel can. Titanium scratches more readily and shows wear differently.
With proprietary alloys such as King Gold we compare the colour of case and bezel. Then come the calibre, an in-house Unico or a bought-in base movement, and the papers: reference and serial number must match the guarantee card. Whatever we find is stated.
Which Hublot models do we offer and look for?
Most enquiries concern the Big Bang Unico: in titanium as the 45 mm 411.NX.1170.RX or the 42 mm 441.NX.1170.RX, and in black ceramic as the Black Magic 411.CI.1170.RX.
Anyone looking for the original Big Bang will arrive at the steel 301.SX.1170.RX.
For a quieter watch there is the titanium Classic Fusion, as the 42 mm 542.NX.1171.RX or the 45 mm 511.NX.1171.RX. If your reference is not online, we can search for it.
How do you buy, sell or trade in a Hublot with us?
You buy a Hublot from us through a request without obligation; we confirm availability personally, and payment by bank transfer only follows once you agree. Delivery is insured or by appointment.
You can sell outright, on consignment or as a trade-in. With a Hublot, please send clear photographs of the bezel, the case and the strap, and state which documents you have.
Every request is assessed by hand, and a proposal only follows afterwards. The Aequator Collection is an independent dealer and not an authorised Hublot retailer.
