The 5968A is the steel Aquanaut chronograph, introduced in 2018. It combines the Aquanaut's shape, with the rounded octagonal bezel and the dial bearing an embossed chequered motif, with a flyback chronograph and a date.
The case measures 42.2 mm, making it larger than that of the 5167A. The versions differ mainly in the colour of the dial, the accents and the composite strap.
Inside is the self-winding calibre CH 28-520 C, the in-house movement with column wheel and flyback function that Patek Philippe also used in the 5980/1A. The movement is visible through the sapphire caseback, and the watch is water-resistant to 120 metres.
On a pre-owned 5968A we test the chronograph fully: start, stop, reset and flyback. We also look at the pushers and the crown, at the condition of the strap and the folding clasp, and at polishing marks on the case.
We compare the numbers with the certificate and state which straps come with the watch. How we assess a watch is explained in our guide to having a watch valued.
